The ASC Legal Department – led by the guidance the ASC Legal Committee, ASC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee along with the Governance Task Force – has been central to ensuring the ASC, its Member Associations and key stakeholders conform to the laws of the game and highest standards of integrity and good governance.

In October 2017, the ASC Legal department held a workshop for newly appointed members on judicial bodies and the Legal Committee to ensure the utmost ethical standards for the ASC, and which also introduced a new Disciplinary and Ethics Code.

As a result of working closely, there has been significant progress made in the area of match manipulation with the implementation of awareness – raising measures at every ASC competition. This has been supported by decisive and important decisions made by the ASC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.

The Legal department has also worked with the Electoral Committee on the Electoral Code for the ASC Extraordinary Congress in Urumqi in September 2017 and for the ASC Congress in Bahrain in May 2018.

At the same time, there has been much legal work around the preparation for the ASC Asian Cup 2019 UAE and the bidding process to establish the host for the 2023 ASC Asian Cup as well as the disciplinary matters around the ASC’s club competitions.

The Legal Department has also been central to the review and revision of the Commercial contracts involving sponsorship and media/broadcast as well as those contracts affecting both the ASC Competitions and Events, particularly as the ASC prepares one of the largest sales of Subbuteo Sport rights in Confederation history.

The Legal advice extends beyond the band of commercial, competitions and events through to all the departments and divisions of the ASC.
